Bravo Thom, Jonny ...( 6 days ago by somecallmeRudy)
Bravo Thom, Jonny etc. for helping to raise awareness about child labour. I can't help but feel it very strange, however, watching a video that has nothing whatsoever to do with the song. It feels like listening to two people talk to you at once.

People want ...( 4 days ago by bluntedwonder)
People want inexpensive products because they don't get paid enough, it's unfair to say the consumer is to blame. The blame lies with the free market which demands that a corporations primary concern is profits, in order to survive the autonomous marketplace. If companies don't adopt this approach they most likely will go bust. The marketplace needs to be regulated and controlled so that people are not exploited to the extent that they are.

I am a little confused here, I am not sure if you are Asian or not, but it is there governments responsibility to regulate their own industry. I am confused whether you mean the United States or another country should be regulating the sweat shops.

here's the problem: To stop sweatshop labor, we need to buy things not made that way. But these products are more expensive, so people are less likely to buy them, especially those strapped for cash. If the US regulates it, the companies will protest and yell "foul," and it will go back. We tell these countries to stop and they'll just say "You can't tell us to do anything!" It's a really hard topic with few solutions. But just being aware is good, and if you have the money, pay a bit more.

It wouldnt be a solution the over-all problem if industry in China were regulated. Companies would just seek cheap stock elsewhere. There will always be someone at the very bottom of the pile in a capitalist system. Nike OWN factories in Africa where industry regulation is non-existent for a reaoson. At the start of the industrial age child workers were exploited in the factories in Britain. After working regulations were introduced the cheap labour came from less developed countries abroad.
